‘Your Death Your Choice’
Community Education Initiative
Dying is everyone’s business, and although every person dies, the majority of Queenslanders have a poor understanding of palliative care or the process of dying. Most still believe that death is nearly always a painful and undignified process and that specialist palliative care is unlikely to result in a dignified and pain free death.
The Your Death Your Choice Community Education Initiative seeks to challenge that belief by providing a public forum for the discussion of key end of life issues, including physician assisted suicide, as well as educating Queenslanders about the science of dying, medico-legal and ethical issues, and decision making at end of life.
The Your Death Your Choice Community Education Initiative is a collaborative project of Palliative Care Queensland and Cancer Voices Queensland.
