‘Looking In Looking Out’
Pre-Conference Workshop
On Friday May 21st 2010, as part of the Palliative Care Queensland Biennial State Conference, Ipswich Hospice Care will present two concurrent pre-conference workshops at Ipswich Hospice, Chermside Road, Ipswich.
Workshop 1 - Looking In, A Strengths Approach to Self Care
Do you often find yourself wondering why you stay in this field of work? Do you find yourself obsessing on problems in the workplace? Have you found yourself dreaming of being somewhere else? This workshop is designed to replenish your passion for the work that you do and draw on our own and others ’self care expertise’. It will provide a ‘hands on’ experience through story telling, music and relaxation.
Workshop Outcomes
At the completion of this workshop participants will have:
- A shared understanding of ’self care’;
- Identified key hopes that are important to each of them in their work;
- Explored barriers that may ‘trip them up’ along the way;
- Identified resources/strategies that have assisted them in their own ’self care’, and
- Taken away new ideas that may assist them in their future ’self care’.
Workshop 2 - Looking Out, A Strengths Approach to Team Work
Do you often find yourself feeling alone and isolated in the work that you do? Do you find yourself confused about your role and the roles of others? Have you found yourself angry and confused about the lack of team approach to your work? This one day workshop is designed look at the important aspects of teamwork and the implications of working well and not working well as a team.
Workshop Outcomes
At the completion of this workshop participants will have:
- A shared understanding of ‘team work’;
- Explored the implications of working as a team and working in isolation;
- Identified key hopes that are important to them in their role as a team member;
- Identified resources/strategies that have assisted them in being part of a team, and
- Identified steps that they can take toward strengthening their ‘care team’.

Cost
The cost of the pre-conference workshops are as follows:
- Full Day Registration $140
- Half Day Registration $70
All prices include GST and are in AU$. Morning-tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
Location
Ipswich Hospice Care is located less than 1 km from the Ipswich City centre. A complimentary shuttle service will be available to transport delegates to and from the Metro Hotal Ipswich International.
